S2: God’s Plan To Saturate Us With His GodLife

S2: God’s Plan To Saturate Us With His GodLife

Question: How did God plan to give us His Divine and Eternal Life?

The Lord may have created Man in one day, but the process of infusing the GodLife into us may have needed more time to accomplish. After all, we’re talking about a Life that is the REAL life (not this current so-called life that ends in death) – but the same Life of God – eternal, divine, holy and indestructible.

A young girl is seated at a desk and is holding up paper dolls. She is smiling at the camera. Horizontally framed shot.

To make Man the same as God (but not in the Godhead to be worshipped), His life had to permeate us completely — down to the nails on our little toes and into our very cells. What a seemingly impossible project that would have been!  It’s somewhat equivalent to me creating a paper doll and transferring a part of my own life into her, so she can be my human friend forever. Impossible!

But this is exactly what God set out to do, because He loved us even before He made us. He loved us enough to desire that we become like Him, in image and likeness, and finally in Life.

Genesis 2:7 Jehovah God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.

Soul = Mind + Emotion + Will

Soul = Mind + Emotion + Will

Man’s soul is his very person, his self (psyche is a word for it). It is composed of man’s mind, emotion, and will. This is where we make decisions, where our intellect resides, where we understand concepts, practice a culture, develop complex societies and intricate relationships, feel happiness and sadness, and begin our search for God.

Man is made up of three parts – physical body, soul, and spirit. In the garden, as it is in our lives today, God wanted to be Man’s supply for the sustenance of all three.

1 Thessalonians 5:23

1 Thessalonians 5:23

The physical body is for man to contact and interact with the physical realm through his five senses. For the body’s sustenance, the Lord supplied all of the produce of the garden.

The psychological soul is for man to contact and interact with the psychological realm through his mind, emotion and will. In the garden, the Lord provided His nature to suffuse Man, delight and entertain him with His holiness, righteousness, joy, His freshness, humour, uniqueness and love.

The spirit of Man is the deepest part of Man, created to contact and interact with the spiritual realm and all things spirit, not least of all — God, for God is Spirit. It is in Man’s spirit that the GodLife was to grow, and in Man’s Spirit where God wanted to dwell. For this spirit, God supplied Man with the tree of life to eat, so Man could grow this GodLife.

Genesis 2:9  And out of the ground Jehovah caused to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, as well as the tree of life in the middle of the garden…

Genesis 2:15  And Jehovah God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and to keep it

v.16 And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying Of every tree of the garden you may eat freely

Eating of the tree of life was how God planned His Life would get into Man. By walking in the garden with God and eating of the tree of life, Man (man and woman both) would be filled and saturated with God’s Life. It had nothing to do with a list of rules of “learn this, read that, do this, and practice that.” It had nothing to do with copying God, or adopting His nature, or going into some kind of God training.

Nothing at all like any of that.

To me, it is as clear as science – getting the Life of God into us is like eating good quality nutrition. Eat enough of good food every day, and you grow to be healthy and strong. Eat a daily supply of deep-fried fatty and sugary foods, and you end up dead before your time. Getting the Life of God into our being is as organic as metabolizing physical food for our physical life. Eat enough of Godfood and you grow the GodLife.

Getting the GodLife into us then, as it is now, had everything to do with eating Godfood from the tree of life.

But before we could gain God’s Life fully into us, before the Lord’s Plan could be completed, something terrible happened, with repercussions causing death to our body and soul, and interrupting God’s Plan to fill our spirit with His Life.

This singular event wiped out every single perfect work God started in us, with truly horrible results echoing deep in our body, soul and spirit, even causing the whole of creation crying out for deliverance from the farthest corners of the earth.
